NIHONGO TRAVELER
Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 5, 2026
Nihongo Traveler ("the App") is operated by Enrique Garcia Rosales, an individual registered in Mexico (RFC: GARE920505370) ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the App handles and your rights over it. We built the App to work primarily on your device and to collect the minimum data needed to provide the features described below.
1. Data we collect — and why
- Account data (optional). If you create an account we store your email address, display name, and a salted hash of your password (we never store or can recover your actual password). Purpose: signing you in and syncing your learning progress across your devices. Creating an account is optional — the App works without one, storing everything locally.
- Learning progress. Your selected track, spaced-repetition state (which items you studied and how well), daily XP and streak, and — if you purchased — your subscription tier. Purpose: making the App function and restoring your progress on a new device when you sign in.
- Widget history. The items you tapped on the widget are stored only on that device and are never uploaded.
- Purchase data. Payments are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see your card details. We record only the subscription tier, product identifier and store transaction identifier to unlock your features.
2. Advertising (free tier only)
The free tier shows ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage signals to serve and measure ads, as described in Google's Privacy Policy. Where required, you will be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown, and you may opt for non-personalized ads. Paid tiers contain no ads and no ad tracking.
3. What we do NOT do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not use your data for purposes other than operating the App.
- We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or microphone data.
4. Where your data lives
Local data stays in the App's private storage on your device. Account and progress data are stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers in the United States (us-east-1), protected with encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest.
5. Your rights & account deletion
- Access / correction: your data is visible in the App; you may update your track and progress at any time.
- Deletion: use Settings → Delete Account in the App to permanently erase your account and all associated server data, immediately. You may also email us (below) and we will delete your data within 30 days.
- Local-only use: decline to create an account and no personal data reaches our servers at all.
6. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the App.
